The EpicTV series Tales from the Forest follows some of the world’s best boulder climbers as they explore the wooded region of Fontainebleau in France, featuring everything from first ascents to repeats of some of the most challenging lines.

The second episode of the series features American Lisa Chulich as she takes on one of the hardest mid-grade highball arétes. According to the video’s description, “This slopey, balancey, beast is very technical and extremely physically demanding.”

Each attempt leaves the climber with less and less skin on her fingers. On the last day, Chulich finally makes a breakthrough and is able to send the route. Check out the episode, “Lisa Chulich Sacrifices Skin to Climb a Classic Font Highball,” below.
