Gibbon Slacklines Brings World’s Best “Slackers” and New Product to the 2012 OR Summer Market

You’ve seen slacklining everywhere from Madonna’s performances to backyards and parks across America, and its momentum is only picking up as this thrilling sport continues to skyrocket. At this year’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, UT on August 2-5, 2012, slacklining is set to steal the spotlight once again. Outside the Salt Palace in the South Plaza, Gibbon Slacklines will host the Gibbon Games International Slackline competition, which will include an interactive slackline area for attendees to try the new sport. Inside the Salt Palace at the Gibbon booth (#1), the company will be exhibiting an updated version if its indoor slackline solution, the SlackRack.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be hosting the Gibbon Games and exhibiting at OR again,” said Emilio Torres, vice president of sales at Gibbon. “The massive crowd support and enthusiasm for the sport makes OR one of our favorite events. With a roster of top slackliners from around the world and growing enthusiasm for the sport, we’re expecting summer OR to be even bigger and better than ever.”

    Gibbon Games International Slackline Competition

Taking place at the South Plaza, the Gibbon Games International Slackline Competition is the only event at OR that is open to the public, giving everyone a look inside the exhilarating sport. Twenty-four athletes from around the globe will compete for $2,500 and points in the world ranking. Notable athletes include the slacklining world champ Mike Payton and Italy’s famed Lukas Huber. An interactive slacklining area allows the public to try slacklining on a smaller and safer setup than the slacklines used for pro-level competition.
The qualifying round of the competition will take place on Thursday, August 2 from 6-7 p.m. Round one will happen from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, and the quarter finals, semi finals and final rounds will all take place from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday.
