Lathrop State Park is now offering camping during the winter months. Twenty campsites with water and electricity are open at the park to give visitors a chance to experience Lathrop’s quiet season. Winter is a perfect time to visit Lathrop – the summer crowds are gone, the migratory birds are flying through, and the views of the snowcapped Spanish Peaks are phenomenal.
While you are here, enjoy a stroll on the flat Cuerno Verde Trail around Martin Lake, or a more rigorous hike on the Hogback Trail, where you will be treated with views of the entire snow-dusted Cuchara River Valley.
Use the campground as a quiet local getaway, a stopover on your way to other locations across the state, or as a “base-camp” for exploring the historic Spanish Peaks Country. The camping fees for winter camping at Lathrop State Park are $20 per night, in addition to the daily state parks pass fee of $7. Colorado residents, 64 years old and older, that have a Colorado State Parks Aspen Leaf Annual Pass, can receive a discounted camping rate on weekdays at $17 per night.
