    SatComms Established in New Zealand

New Zealand marine electronics specialist Electronic Navigation Ltd (ENL) and SatComms Australia – a leader in global satellite communication solutions, have entered into a joint venture forming SatComms NZ.

SatComms is a specialist, world-class provider of mobile and fixed satellite solutions, from basic handheld technology to fully-integrated satellite network solutions. SatComms works together with their customers to ensure that the satellite solution delivered is a perfect fit for their immediate and future requirements.

The partnership will see SatComms bring their airtime and satellite-solutions expertise, while ENL will provide their experience in hardware and local on the ground support.

In addition to its core competencies, SatComms NZ will also offer products and services directly related to mobile communications.

“Our service portfolio will integrate New Zealand into global satellite infrastructure, providing communication solutions for the wide spectrum of marine users such as commercial fishing, ocean sailors, super yachts, as well as government agencies and land-based customers,” says Calvin Clements, Sales and Marketing Manager, Satcomms NZ.

“Mobile satellite communication is becoming more and more necessary in today’s global marine environment. In super yacht applications we are increasingly seeing more clients requiring broadband data capability at sea as their vessel becomes an extension of the office. We are able to provide a tailored, affordable and reliable service to the client and for those seeking reliable phone and data connectivity wherever they are.”

“New Zealand has become a preferred destination for the world’s cruising and super yacht community, once here SatComms NZ will be able to provide owners and skippers with bespoke satellite communication airtime solutions.”

In today’s maritime world, vessel operators and owners understand that it is crucial in both retaining crew and running an operationally efficient vessel to be able to offer cost-effective voice communications, for crew and passengers to keep in touch with those on land.

SatComms NZ offers Ku & C-Band VSAT services, with the ability to link customers to various points on the planet via terrestrial infrastructure within Australia and New Zealand. These services offer true broadband data throughput speeds, and the ability for customers to utilise privately commissioned satellite bandwidth for greater performance and security.

“To complement our superior service provision, we also offer customers access to the latest range of hardware and value-added applications available on the Inmarsat, Iridium and VSAT satellite networks.”

Piers Cunningham, Director of SatComms NZ and former Director of Maritime Business at Inmarsat Plc said “The creation of SatComms NZ will deliver our New Zealand based customers the very best in commercial and operational satellite solutions support and advice, via a local company with global reach.

“SatComms NZ brings together the skills of two highly professional and market-leading companies to give New Zealand a true one-stop-shop for all satellite based communication requirements.”
