One of Mississippi’s most popular fishing destinations is about to get a facelift. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) will be upgrading Neshoba County Lake’s campground. The project is scheduled to start in mid May, and includes 22 sites that provide water, sewer, and 100 amp electrical services. In addition, a new bathhouse will be constructed to accommodate campers. The project is expected to be completed by late November.

“I’m excited not only for MDWFP but also local people in Philadelphia and surrounding areas that take so much pride in Neshoba Lake,” said Representative Scott Bounds, Chairman of the House Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Committee.  “We will have a facility that will be one of the finest recreation areas anywhere in the state. These campground improvements will certainly enhance the attraction Mississippi sportsmen have to Neshoba Lake, one of the premier fishing destinations in the state lake system. I appreciate the MDWFP working with Senator Giles Ward, Chairman of the Senate Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Committee, and I in making these needed improvements. We look forward to the completion of the project and its added contribution to the lake.”

The lake will remain open to fishing during construction. Neshoba County Lake is a 138-acre lake located 6 miles southeast of Philadelphia off Highway 486.
