Sun Protection Zone announced on Monday that the company, which creates sun protective clothing and products, will be launching SPZ Sports, dedicated to providing a collection for stand up paddleboarders and water sports enthusiasts. Teaming up with SPZ is SUP World Record holder Tom Jones, who assisted in determining what products were necessary. This is the first time a line has been specifically created for SUP athletes.
The SPZ Sports SUP line will have two shirt styles, two bootie styles, gloves, and a head wrap, but additional products will be added in the future.
“A highlight of the collection is MAC or ‘Motion Activated Cooling,’ an innovative venting system that allows air to flow through both the front and back of the Men’s Long Sleeve MAC Shirt,” the news release stated. “The shirt, made of breathable four-way stretch UPF 50+ sun protective fabric, features mesh underarms and side panels for additional cooling, seamless underarms to avoid chafing, palm padding for grip, thumb holes to keep sleeves in place, covered hands for UV protection and reflective piping for enhanced visibility. Suggested retail price will be $88.”
The StableStance Boots are one of the most necessary SUP items, offering a ribbed sole and heel design that grip to the board more effectively that bare feet or a traditional water shoe. There are porous toe panels that help drain water from the boot quickly, as well as an ankle strap that will keep debris out.
