Amateur Snowboard Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam Series Stops at Keystone Resort

Each year hundreds of kids from all over Summit County and Colorado flock to Keystone Resort’s A51 Terrain Park to prove they have what it takes to be the next victor of the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam. The event aims to give something back to the future generation of kids who could become snowboard champions, while providing spectators and participants alike a fun, encouraging atmosphere.

Keystone is the last qualifying stop on the popular PB & Rail Jam series before the ultimate championships at Mammoth Mountain, CA later this season. The tour has traveled everywhere from California toCanada and Utah, and now to Colorado, giving kids nation-wide the opportunity to prove their skills in the park. Not only is the competition and exposure great for youngsters everywhere, but the series is completely free making it easily accessible for any snowboarder.

Volcom offers a super fresh competition set-up, with three rails side-by-side on the slope, rather than staggered vertically down the park. This set-up forces competitors to both ride and hike together, creating a supportive group atmosphere great for those who want to come with friends as well as meet new ones. The jam-style format consists of 20 minute heats in which each snowboarder is allowed to hit the rails as many times as they like. If the judges deem tricks worthy of the finals, the rider will progress on to the last round for a chance to snag the top spot.

Throughout the day each rider will have access to free food, drinks and of course peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. In addition to the free goodies, tons of prizes will be given away including Volcom PBRJ t-shirts and stickers for every participant.

This event allows Keystone Resort to continue to support young snowboarders’ talent development in an atmosphere that is both social and relaxed. Ranked among the Top 5 Terrain Parks in North America, Keystone’s A51 stresses progression; especially with the inclusion of a new, beginner/small park this season in Freda’s Incubator. Volcom’s PBRJ furthers this idea of youth advancement perfectly with their positive, collaborative youth-focused competition where young talent can gain exposure in the industry. Plus, one lucky winner will walk away as the crowned victor of the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam with a chance to compete at the series’ finale.
