Torqeedo Sposnors Charlston Race Week for Second Year

For the second year in a row, electric outboard manufacturer Torqeedo is proud to both serve as an associate sponsor of Charleston Race Week and race in the regatta in its J70, aptly named Torqeedo. Held April 10-13 in Charleston, South Carolina, Race Week is the largest keelboat regatta in the Western Hemisphere and is now in its 19th year.

“Charleston Race Week is a great place to showcase Torqeedo’s deep commitment to the sailing world. The 18-24′ one-design boats are a perfect fit for our Travel series of motors, providing unparalleled ease of use, stowability, and performance,” said Steve Trkla, Torqeedo North American division president and general manager. “We’re proud to help keep this event affordable and accessible in order to encourage more teams and families to get on the water.”

Charleston Race Week draws participants from around the world for three exciting days of racing, socializing and learning, including inshore harbor and offshore courses. The regatta is open to one-design, PHRF and IRC racing sailboats 22-70′ in length.

Torqeedo is also holding a drawing for a Travel 1003 electric outboard motor and providing 350 dry bags to keep everyone’s gear dry and safe. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to see Torqeedo’s high-powered 40 and 80 hp electric motors on an inflatable Zodiac and a Caribbean skiff, something speed-aficionados will certainly appreciate.
