Lindsey Vonn skied for the first time since a knee injury forced her to temporarily retire her skis 10 months ago. She got back to her sport while training in Soelden, Austria on Wednesday.

Although not much information has been shared regarding how her first day back on skis went, USSA Alpine Director Patrick Riml told SkiRacing.com, “I am told that things went well.”

She hasn’t raced since last December 21, but said she plans to compete at Lake Louise in early December.

“A lot of people don’t think I will be back,” Vonn told The New York Times. “That’s fine. The other girls are probably feeling pretty comfortable without me out there. When I do come back I think they’ll see that they can’t be comfortable anymore. It’s a new generation coming up, but they’ll definitely realize that the veteran is not gone quite yet.”

Vonn, 29, is also in the news for being named a 2016 Youth Winter Olympic Games ambassador for the Games that will be held in Lillehammer, Norway. The announcement came on Tuesday, and this will be the second time the athlete was chosen for the position. Vonn also served as the first ambassador of the inaugural Youth Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck in 2012.

“It is amazing to be back for more Youth Olympic action. Innsbruck 2012 was such an inspirational event, not just to the young athletes there, but also for the kids watching,” Vonn said in a news release. “It showcases, in a totally unique way, how much fun and excitement there is in winter sports. Lillehammer with its Olympic history and famous venues will provide the best experience for the athletes on and off the field of play—I am very excited to be a part of it.”
