George Bellwoar, VP of sales and marketing for Perko, has been elected to serve a second term as chairman of the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). The position has a one-year term.
Bellwoar has more than 30 years of marine OEM and aftermarket industry experience, encompassing the recreational, commercial and military segments. In addition to his service to ABYC, he previously served as chairman of the board for the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), and sat on numerous trade committees.
Also elected to second terms were Jack Hornor as vice chairman, Steve Herb as treasurer and Dave Marlow as tech board chairman. In addition, Bob Johnson and John Greviskis were elected as new directors on the ABYC board.
“I’m honored to serve ABYC members for another term,” said Bellwoar. “ABYC’s mission is to improve boating safety, which helps preserve a pastime loved by millions and a livelihood enjoyed by many. This effort is worthy of the support of everyone working in this industry.”
Founded in 1954, ABYC develops safety standards for the design, construction, repair and maintenance of recreational boats. The organization has also had a comprehensive educational program in place since 1989.
Perko manufactures an extensive array of marine hardware, lighting and fuel system components. It is a fourth generation family corporation.
