DOLORES, Colo. – Who left that track? What kind of butterfly is that? Oh my, what kind of snake lives here? You can find out answers to these and more nature questions by joining Mancos State Park Naturalist, Carol Bylsma, for a fun-filled program at Mancos State Park this summer.

Friday June 24, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Beginning Birding. Is it a bird or a? Birding is one of the most popular pastimes in America. Ever wonder what it’s all about and why you’d want to learn to identify birds? Join Carol at the Mancos State Park main parking area to join in the fun.

Friday June 24, 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Butterflies. Set your inner child free and chase butterflies. Join Carol for a walk along a trail and in the meadows to watch and catch butterflies in order to identify them, and then set each butterfly free. Fun for the whole family and no experience needed. Carol has been catching and releasing butterflies and researching their life cycles for many years and loves to share her enjoyment and knowledge. Nets provided. Meet at the parking lot behind the park gate entrance.

Saturday June 25, 4 p.m.-5 p.m. For Kids & Kids at Heart. Meet Carol, the park naturalist, at the grassy area across from the group picnic shelter to play lively games about wildlife, trees, and habitat. For Kids and Kids at heart.

Campfire Programs are also offered every Saturday in the summer months. Meet at the park amphitheater (in the main campground) for an evening program. A parks pass is required for entry to the park.
