    Cherry Creek State Park Hosts Lake Appreciation Day

    AURORA, Colo. – Join Cherry Creek State Park’s celebration of Lake Appreciation Day on Saturday, July 30 for a day of fun in the sun!  Sign-up for one of many cool volunteer projects from 8 a.m. to noon. Refreshments will be provided! And, bring a bag lunch and stay for an afternoon of excitement. Starting at noon and lasting through 4 p.m., there will be boat rides, fun and educational programs, a raffle, snacks and a fishing clinic.

    You should dress appropriately for the morning volunteer activities. Closed-toed shoes, gloves, an outfit for working, sun block, bug spray, and a water bottle or two.  To sign up, please visit our web page,www.parks.state.co.us/Parks/CherryCreek.

    Projects will include: shoreline clean-up: protect Cherry Creek’s fish, birds, and wildlife by removing dangerous fishing line, and other items that could harm or kill wildlife; remove Russian olive which is a noxious weed and takes three times the water of our native plants;  and replanting native trees and shrubs to improve habitat for our wildlife park residents along Cottonwood Creek.
