Highline Lake State Park Offers “Summer of Outdoor Fun” Program

LOMA, Colo. – Highline Lake State Park is once again inviting kids, ages 8 to 12, to get outdoors this summer. The Summer of Outdoor Fun programs, offered on Wednesdays throughout the summer, will give kids the chance to learn how much fun it is to be outdoors, including the importance of the environment, “Leave No Trace” ethics, the history of Highline Lake, camping basics, fossils and the “Scorpion Man,” a natural scavenger hunt and local fish habitat. There will also be a how-to class on fishing where poles and tackle will be given out and can be taken home.

The Summer of Outdoor Fun programs will take place each Wednesday beginning June 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. Kids will meet in the picnic area near the beach house. There will be a different outdoor activity each week, and kids will discover how much fun nature, the environment and being outdoors can be. The Summer of Outdoor Fun Wednesday program will end with a barbeque on Aug. 3. For more information, contact the Highline Lake office at (970) 858-7208, or email the park at highline.park@state.co.us.
