Reel Fishy Jobs with Mark Melnyk, which airs on WFN every Thursday night at 7:30 pm ET, gives viewers a new understanding of what fishing for a living is all about as Melnyk tackles the toughest, messiest, and most outrageous jobs in commercial fishing, conservation, and recreational fishing. In its first season, some of Melnyk’s jobs included: making Fish-all Chum; snow crabbing; working as a veterinary assistant; manufacturing and repairing boats; competing as a pro angler in an FLW Tour event; and serving as an environment fishing guide at the Queen Charlotte Lodge in British Columbia. Prior to hosting Reel Fishy Jobs, Melnyk spent three years as the host of WFN’s weekly travel adventure show Reel Road Trip.
“Whether I am taping my show or out on the water socially, the glare, reflection and intensity from the sun have caused me vision fatigue and headaches for many years,” Melnyk said. “I have never seen anything like the Mela-Lens™ technology in my Signature Series by Sundog Eyewear. But the most important thing for me is that I can be outside all day and not get fatigued at all; if you love fishing as much as I do, you’ll love Sundog Eyewear”
“Mela” is an abbreviation for Melanin, a naturally produced pigment that acts as a sunscreen protecting the skin from High Energy Visible light or “blue” light. In partnership with BNL Sun Lenses, an Essilor company, Sundog Eyewear has created the Sundog Mela-Lens™lines utilizing synthetic melanin to produce state-of-the-art melanin lens technology. Mela-Lens™ absorbs light seamlessly over a broad spectral range providing blue light filtration with minimal color distortion, and 100 per cent UVA/B protection. Sundog’s premium Mela-Lens™ offering is a first for the fishing industry and raises the standard for a great fishing sunglasses.
Mark’s Signature Series also features superior Photochromic™ adaptation to changing light conditions plus Essilor’s state-of-the-art glare reduction polarizing filter. The lenses have an optional Clari-Coat™ Sundog’s superior lens coatings that provide hydrophobic (water repellent) and oleo-phobic (oil repellent) properties. They are both abrasion and shatter resistant.
With Mark’s Sundog Eyewear, it really is fishing like you’ve never seen before.
“These are the first sunglasses that I have ever worn that I forgot I am wearing them” said Melnyk. “When I’m wearing my Signature Series Sundogs, I feel that it’s how my eyes are supposed to work.”
