The Department of Natural Resources will conduct a public meeting pertaining to the improvements at the Cass Lake Boating Access Site (BAS) in Waterford Township. The public meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Cass Lake BAS within Dodge #4 State Park, 4250 Parkway Dr., Waterford in Oakland County. The meeting area will be located next to the boat launch. Local DNR staff members will be available to provide information and answer questions to those attending.
Michigan is one of the nation’s leaders in registered watercrafts approaching nearly one million. Boaters enjoy more than 11,000 inland lakes, 36,000 miles of rivers and streams and 3,000 miles of freshwater shoreline – more than any other state. This project is supported through the State of Michigan Waterways Fund, which is comprised of revenues received from boat registrations and marine fuel taxes. These revenues are restricted by state law to be used for the benefit of boating, including the construction, operation, and maintenance of recreational boating facilities.
Persons with disabilities needing accommodations for this meeting should contact Dodge #4 State Park supervisor Andrew Cole at 248-682-7323 a minimum of five business days before this meeting. Requests made fewer than five business days before this meeting may not be accommodated.
For details or updates on this project, contact Andrew Cole at 248-682-7323. To locate public boating access sites in Michigan visit www.mcgi.state.mi.us/MRBIS.
The Recreation Passport has replaced motor vehicle permits for entry into Michigan state parks, recreation areas and state-administered boating access sites. This new way to fund Michigan’s outdoor recreation opportunities also helps to preserve state forest campgrounds, trails, and historic and cultural sites in state parks, and provides park development grants to local communities. Michigan residents can purchase the Recreation Passport ($10 for motor vehicles; $5 for motorcycles) by checking “Yes” on their license plate renewal forms, or at any state park or recreation area. To learn more about the Recreation Passport, visit www.michigan.gov/recreationpassport or call 517-241-7275.
Non-resident motor vehicles must still display a valid Non-Resident Recreation Passport ($29 annual; $8 daily) to enter a Michigan state park, recreation area or state-administered boating access site, which can be purchased at any state park or recreation area, or through the Michigan e-Store at www.michigan.gov/estore.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state’s natural and cultural resources for current and future generations. For more information, go to www.michigan.gov/dnr.
