Camping Still Top Family Labor Day Activity

BILLINGS, MT August 30, 2011 – With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, more and more families are looking for fun and affordable vacation ideas that will keep them closer to home. Kampgrounds of America, a network of more than 475 campgrounds across North America, offers a lot of rest and relaxation at reasonable rates and best of all, the whole family (even pets) can go!

In fact, though much of the travel and tourism industry has taken a hit this summer, KOA reports that it is seeing a huge 18 percent increase in Lodge camping in 2011. KOA also expects to finish the summer strong despite economic uncertainties and adverse weather, with camping results near the record levels set in the summer of 2010.

For the holiday weekend, campers may enjoy the family entertainment and top notch accommodations offered at each of the KOA campgrounds across the U.S. In addition to lodging accommodations that make camping with KOA feel more like a stay in nature’s private resort, KOA campsites offer activities for kids of all ages such as pancake breakfasts, ice cream socials, climbing walls, petting zoos, mini golf, jumping pillows and movie screenings.

While camping options vary, every KOA has great sites for recreational vehicles and tents, as well as comfy Kamping Kabins that sleep four to six. For an even more comfortable camping trip, campers can try a KOA Lodge. Many equipped with full kitchens and bathrooms, free WiFi, air conditioning, a flat screen TV and a porch with a barbeque. Lodges are a great way to have all of the comforts of home, and still share a fun family campfire.

Whatever the choice, a camping trip with KOA is just the ticket to end the summer memorably.

“Labor Day Weekend is always a popular time for camping, and our KOA campground owners throughout North America have done a wonderful job providing new accommodations and amenities at their KOAs that will ensure campers have a great time,” said KOA CEO Jim Rogers. “There is nothing like sharing a Labor Day Weekend camping trip with your family and friends. It’s a great value.”

Kampgrounds of America was founded on the banks of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana in 1962. The iconic camping company will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012.
