G3 and Backcountry Magazine announced the fourth and final winner of the annual Skigraphiks competition today with the design ‘Skis of Anarchy’ by artist Patrik Johansson – an American flag background with a skull and a skier featured on the topsheet of G3’s Infidel skis. The last of four month-long competitions wrapped up in December. A grand prize winner will be chosen from the winning entries of each segment in January.
A professional graphic artist and avid watcher of the TV series Sons of Anarchy, Johansson wanted to create a topsheet that had a “kick ass rough looking biker design” and that reflected the look and feel of Sons of Anarchy.
Johannson will take home a pair of Infidels with his winning design atop the skis. He looks forward to using the skis in the backcountry in Europe and hopes to some day make the journey across the Atlantic to Canada or the US to find out if the snow is as good as the magazines claim.
The SkiGraphiks competition, which held four separate contests between September 1 and December 31, encourages people to submit their graphic designs for a ski via the G3 Skigraphiks web site. The top four designs are produced in limited-edition G3 skis and are available for the public to buy through the corresponding online retailers. In order to have their designs considered, contestants submitted a topsheet graphic for the G3 Infidel Ski via the Skigraphiks website and the public voted on their favorite design. The winning design, “Skis of Anarchy,” was one of the most popular among viewers on the contest site, was the favorite of Backcountry Magazine staffers, the co-sponsor of the final segment of the competition, and also deemed the best design by a panel of G3 judges.
This year’s challenge had four rounds, in concert with four partners — online retailers Backcountry.com, MountainGear.com and BentGate.com, and Backcountry Magazine online, each with a different G3 ski, giving consumers the opportunity to enter four competitions between September 1 and December 31, 2011.
In the next few days, one of the designs from the four competitions will be chosen as Grand Prize winner by G3. The grand-prize winner will receive a ski package valued at over $1,400. The package will include a pair of skis with their winning top-sheet graphic, as well as G3 skins and G3 bindings
