Billabong Flaunt It, presented by Sony Ericsson held the second stop of the tour at Lake Louise, AB on Saturday, February 11th. Lake Louise spoiled the riders with a perfect course and great weather. The course consisted of a “cliff” drop, 2 jumps and 3 rail options, with pro-rider Raewyn Reid putting away her snowboard for the day to emcee the contest.
Christy Prior from New Zealand made it worth her while by extending her stay in Alberta to compete at Flaunt It. Prior managed to impress everyone with a hat trick: taking 1st place Slopestyle, 1st place Rail Jam and the Dakine Best trick with a cork front 540 on the 50ft jump. Her first place Slopestyle run included a half cab off the cliff drop, to a backside 360 melon, to backside 180 mute, and a backlip on the down rail, all executed with extraordinary style. She will be one to watch at the Flaunt It finals at Sierra-at-Tahoe in March. Jennifer Englot, a local Lake Louise rider was not far behind Prior in second place, and prairie rider Jennifer Bernier took home third.
The sun came out in the afternoon to reveal the stunning view Lake Louise has to offer. The rail jam had 3 rail options for the ladies to showcase their skills: a c-rail, handrail, and a flat box. Prior made the most of the 3 features and it was her Front blunt 270 out on the down rail that wooed the judges. Jennifer Englot took the Nixon Style Award and Megan McCallum was awarded the VZ Ragdoll award for her solid face plant, where she managed to walk away with a smile!
