    Chas Guldemond and Spencer O’Brien are the 2012 Slopestyle Champions

    The final day of the inaugural TTR 6Star World Snowboarding Championships played host to an amazing competition where Chas Guldemond (USA) and Spencer O’Brien (CAN) earned their 2012 Slopestyle World Champion titles. Chas and Spencer beat out an amazing group of riders today on the very progressive slopestyle course and were awarded $40,000 USD each for their outstanding riding. Sebastien Toutant (CAN) came in second place for the men followed by Seppe Smits (BEL) in third. On the women’s side, Jamie Anderson (USA) took second place and Enni Rukajarvi (FIN) finished in third.

    The riders were greeted with sunshine and a perfectly manicured slopestyle course that started off with a three-option handrail, an option of four jibs, a set of two kickers, channel gap, option of two jibs and ended with a huge step-over jump. It was a dramatic final for the men and Chas took the win away from Canadian, Sebastien Toutant, at the very last minute of competition. Chas’ winning run was made up of a frontside blunt 270 out, frontside boardslide to 450 out, switch backside 1260, backside 1080, tailpress to backside 180 and ended with a huge Cab 1260. Chas was very excited about the event and his win saying, “It was an amazing day. I’m stoked to win the World Snowboarding Championships. This was the best event I’ve seen this year and in snowboarding so far.”

    Canadian, Spencer O’Brien, took the win in the ladies field beating out the tough competition from American Jamie Anderson. Spencer was able to top Jamie’s lead with her last run that consisted of a frontside boardslide, noseslide, backside 540, switch backside 540, 50-50 and ended with a large frontside 720. Spencer had this to say about her newly acquired World Champion status, “It feels amazing. It’s still sinking in and the idea of being World Champion is so crazy. I’m so happy and so excited and so proud of all the girls.”

    The first-ever TTR World Snowboarding Championships has come to a close and has crowned four new World Champions for the sport of snowboarding in slopestyle and halfpipe disciplines. The Halfpipe World Champions, Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) and Kelly Clark (USA), were crowned last night. With the success of the inaugural event, TTR and the riders are already looking forward to the next edition slated to take place in 2015.
