DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation reminds visitors to Delaware’s state parks that entrance fees will be collected beginning Thursday, March 1. The fee season extends until November 30.

Revenue generated from park entrance fees is used to manage more than 26,000 acres of state park lands. The income is used for trail maintenance, environmental and recreational programs, visitor amenities, guarded beaches, management of campgrounds and cabins, and more.

Entrance fees remain unchanged from last year. Daily park entrance fees for vehicles registered in Delaware are $3 at inland parks and $4 at ocean parks. Fees for out-of-state vehicles are $6 at inland parks and $8 at ocean parks. Where fee attendants are not on duty, visitors should deposit the daily fee in the self-registration envelopes provided at park entrances and place them in the designated drop boxes.

Annual passes are a convenient way to access the parks without paying the daily entrance fee. The cost for a vehicle with a Delaware license plate is $27. An annual pass for an out-of-state vehicle costs $54. Individuals 62 years of age and older with Delaware tags pay only $12 for an annual pass and out-of-state seniors pay $24 for their out-of-state registered vehicle.

Other special passes include: a $55 Lifetime Pass for Delawareans 65 or older; Delawareans receiving public assistance can purchase an annual pass for $10; active military stationed in Delaware can receive a pass for the Delaware rate; and individuals working and paying taxes in the state of Delaware are eligible to receive an annual pass for the Delaware rate.
