With strong onshore winds and marginal swell on offer, event organizers have called the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover off for the day.
The opening stop of the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour season, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast had a juggernaut start to the waiting period, running the first four days and whittling the fields down to the men’s Quarterfinalists and women’s Semifinalists.
“Small swell and bad winds again today so we’ve called another lay day for competition,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’re tracking the wind direction to begin changing tomorrow and hold through the weekend as well as some swell to fill in. We’ll be back tomorrow morning to reassess conditions and make a call then.”
Event organizers will reconvene at 6:30am tomorrow to assess conditions for a possible 7:30am start.
