Hydrapak, a leading global supplier of active-lifestyle hydration equipment, has been chosen by Quiksilver as the full-service OEM provider for the lifestyle brands’ latest on-water pack design.
The Quiksilver Swig pack, staged for distribution in Summer 2012, is designed for the stand-up paddle surf market and features Hydrapak’s 48 oz. No-Slosh Reservoir II. This baffled reservoir features a patented slide-seal closure system and updated Plug-and-Play connector.
“We are excited to be using Hydrapak’s Hydration Technology in our new “Swig” SUP (Stand Up Paddle) Hydration Waist pack,” says Todd Janda, Quiksilver Director of Global Wetsuit Design. “We studied several hydration bladder suppliers before deciding to collaborate with Hydrapak. The user-friendly design was the key factor in our decision to work with Hydrapak. The Hydrapak bladder is easy to clean and refill and the custom design worked perfectly with our design and usage needs.”
“It is an honor for Hydrapak to have been selected by Quiksilver for the SUP line,” said Hydrapak President Matt Lyon. “Quiksilver is known across the surf and action sports industry as a primary player whose savvy innovation keeps them on the forefront of emerging market segments – especially the SUP market, where convenient hydration is really important.”
The strategic partnership between Hydrapak and Quiksilver is the latest collaboration in which the Oakland-based company has been recruited as technical advisor and OEM provider for a notable pack manufacturer.
The entry of Quiksilver into the SUP hydration market demonstrates the dynamic nature of a category which has found new energy and excitement with increased brand participation and product offerings.
