It’s now just one week until the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy’s (WPNSA) Outdoor Sports Show on 31st March. Lots of activities have been secured for the day which is set to be full of excitement, music and competitions suitable for all the family.
Entry is free and visitors can expect a variety of exhibitors including, Weymouth Watersports, Weymouth College, Sail Laser, Osprey Training Centre Windsurfing Made Easy, Studland Sea School, PGL Active, Pelican Adventures, Portland Revive, Land & Wave Outdoor Centre, National Trust, Bustinskins Triathlons & other sporting events, Royal Manor Work Shops, AS Watersports, Land and Wave, Liquid Logistics and Dorset Segways.
Attractions to the show will include a number of taster sessions in the form of windsurfing lessons, sailing sessions, stand up paddle boarding, surf-ski-paddle, land and wave coasteering, kayak trips round the harbour, New Forest activities centre ‘Live Battle Fields, skate park, a climbing wall, gig rowing, Zap Cats and mountain biking. Some activities will be free and not require booking until the day and some have a small fee. Full details of the activities and those that require advance booking are on the event website. Sailing and windsurfing places are filling up fast, so be sure to visit the website and book these activities soon.
The Spinnakers function room will play host to Royal Manor Work Shops who will be displaying various arts and crafts, with demonstrations by local craftsmen. Elsewhere on the site, Portland Sculpture and Quarry Trust will also be offering people to try their hand at stone carving, letter cutting and relief carving. Be sure also to visit the Austrian Alpine Club, who will have samples available of Austrian food and drink in the Spinnakers Room.
In addition to the taster sessions there will be a number of competitions happening throughout the day. Mark from BustinSkins will be running a competition on static bikes to see who can complete 500m in the fastest time, with exciting prizes available. Studland Sea School will be running the ‘Canoe 2012 Sprint Challenge’. Can you sprint 20 metres in less than 12 seconds on a kayak simulator? Every participant in this challenge will be entered into a prize draw, with a prize of a free half day kayak tour to Old Harry Rocks for up to 6 people. Tris from the OTC is running a competition with a chance to win a great prize of a weekends windsurfing course.
