The South Sauty Public Boat Ramp located near Langston, Ala., in Jackson County has reopened after extensive renovations that began in July 2011. The renovations include a modern three lane tournament style launching slab, two courtesy piers, a paved parking lot for 75 rigs, and ample security lighting.

The entrance to the facility has also been relocated to accommodate increased traffic.  The paving was completed on Thursday, March 15. The facility is now open to the public. However, all traffic control markings, such as parking space striping, will be completed within two to three weeks.

This project was a cooperative effort between the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR), the Jackson County Commission, and the Town of Langston.  Routine maintenance will be conducted by the Jackson County Commission. The town of Langston will maintain the security lighting.

“This project would not have been possible without the support of Jackson County and the town of Langston,” said Damon Abernethy, Fisheries Development Supervisor for the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF). “Both were instrumental in making this project possible for the anglers and boaters who frequent Lake Guntersville.”
