The Campagneplein dormitory building at Twente University, Netherlands is, to my knowledge, the only university dormitory building on earth with an exterior wall dedicated to climbing. The building was designed by Arons and Gelauff Architects. In addition to the climbing wall, the nine story building also houses almost 90 students. The climbing wall was an integral part of the building’s design from its inception, and it even helped shaped the overall design language. The climbing wall extends all the way up the nine story wall and it is even one of the largest artificial climbing walls in the world.
