Boats.com, a Dominion Marine Media (DMM) business which is home to thousands of boat reviews and articles and an online destination for boaters globally, has named Lenny Rudow its senior editor.
“Lenny is an award-winning journalist, and we’ve already worked with him for a couple years as a freelance writer and part-time editor,” said John Burnham, editorial director, Boats.com. “Now we’re excited to have someone of his experience and enthusiasm fully devoted to our team. Whether we’re tackling boat tests, marine electronics or fishing, there are few marine journalists with Lenny’s full range of knowledge, insight, and creativity.”
Rudow, who estimates that he has written more than 1,000 boat reviews, joins the editorial team at Boats.com and its sister sites (YachtWorld.com and BoatTrader.com) with both print and online experience. That includes writing for more than 20 national and regional publications, 12 years as an editor for Boating magazine, and more recently serving as the editor of Earthsports.com, a start-up fishing site.
“You won’t find much exciting innovation in today’s print publications,” said Rudow, a member of the board of Boating Writers International, “but in the digital realm, new ideas and fast-paced change are the rule, and Boats.com is a great example. Being able to see where our readers spend their time gives us the ability to discover what works editorially, and when we find something that works, we can provide more of it. If you want to be on the cutting edge and both experience and play a role in innovation first-hand, you join the digital revolution.”
The Boats.com editorial team now includes six full-time and part-time editors, managing content on Boats.com and other Dominion Marine Media sites in the United States, U.K. and Germany.
