Monroe Lake will celebrate National S’mores Day on Friday, Aug. 10, with afternoon and evening activities at Paynetown State Recreation Area.
The highlight is at 9 p.m., when visitors can taste all five finalists from a s’mores recipe competition and vote for a winner.
Other activities will include making “s’mores” refrigerator magnets from 1-5 p.m., making customized marshmallow toasting sticks from 6-8 p.m., and a marshmallow stacking contest at 8:30 p.m.
“It will be a fun evening around the campfire and a great activity for families,” said Jill Vance, interpretive naturalist for Monroe Lake.
