Colorado’s Boyd Lake State Park Closes for Swimming on Aug. 20, Remains Open to Boating and Beach Activities

The Boyd Lake State Park swim beach will close to swimming on Monday, Aug. 20 due to the low water levels. The swim beach area will remain open to picnics, volleyball and other beach activities, said Park Manager Eric Grey.

The main boat ramp remains open and there are no restrictions on boating at this time, said Grey. However, larger boats that are over 20-ft. long and fixed keel vessels should exercise extra caution, especially while launching and loading. Only hand-launched vessels are permitted at the Heron Cove boat ramp at this time. Unmarked hazards may exist as water levels change. Boat inspections for aquatic nuisance species will be available 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Labor Day

The Boyd Lake Marina is not renting boats at this time, but the store is open and firewood deliveries to the campground will continue through the Labor Day weekend.
