    Utah State Parks Events for February

    February 8                 Antelope Island State Park – Syracuse

    Life of a Star: Join us at 7p.m. in the visitor center to talk about some of the many wonders of the night sky. We’ll talk about the life stages of a star, and then bundle up and head outside to find examples of those things in the cold winter sky, weather permitting. Dress to spend time outside.     February 8                 Snow Canyon State Park – Ivins

    Winter Circle: Star Walk- Take part in a ranger-guided stroll at 7 p.m., under the stars and explore the Winter Circle, a bright pattern of stars adorning our cold, February sky. Space is limited and registration is required. 435-628-2255

    February 9                 Antelope Island State Park – Syracuse

    Island Hikes: Join us at 10 a.m., for a guided bird tour and see who calls the island home in the winter. At 1 p.m., join the curator at the Fielding Garr Ranch for a moderate four-mile hike to Mushroom Springs and a discussion on the island’s history of water use. Space is limited.     February 9                 Starvation State Park – Duchesne

    Starvation Second Annual Ice Fishing Tournament: Check-in begins at 6 a.m. and tournament is 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is $15 for adults and $10 for youth 16 and younger. Prizes are awarded for the five largest fish, and all participants are eligible for random prizes. Tournament is limited to 200 anglers. Register early by calling 801-322-3770.

    February 16               Steinaker State Park – Vernal

    Ice Fishing Tournament: Check-in begins at 6 a.m., and tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. Registration is $15 for adults and $10 for youth 16 and younger. Prizes awarded for the three largest fish, and all participants are eligible for random prizes. 435-789-4432

    February 17               Antelope Island State Park – Syracuse

    Antelope Island Backyard Bird Count: Join us at 9 a.m., at the visitor center for a guided bird tour to count all the birds in the area then at 10 a.m., we’ll head to Lady Finger Point. Dress to spend time outside. Weather permitting. Park entrance fees apply. 801-721-9569
