Surfer’s Aerial Stunt Called the Biggest Ever

John John Florence caught more than just waves at the Oakley Pro Bali ASP World Tour Event. Despite suffering a horrific ankle injury a few short months ago, this 2012 Rookie of the Year pulled off an eight-foot, 360 spin on the waves off Keramas. According to Surfing Magazine, the audience was too stunned to clap as Florence caught big air. Not so for the judges, who immediately awarded Florence a perfect 10 score and advanced him to the third round of the competition.

The 20-year-old surfer exploded onto the global scene in 2005 when Florence became the youngest competitor to surf in Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing. He later went on to win the Van’s World Cup in 2011 and became known for his high flying signature moves. Florence also enjoys skateboarding and snowboarding, which might explain for his love of air.
