Video: Gruesome BASE Jumping Injury in Moab, Utah

A YouTube video published on October 29 by experienced BASE jumper and aid climber Ammon McNeely displays his horrific leg injury after his parachute failed to open during a jump.

According to an article published by Climbing, McNeely crashed into a cliff face in Moab, Utah. The jumper was experienced in his field, with more than 1,000 jumps under his belt.

Warning: The video below is extremely graphic.

“I was absolutely prepared to wake up the next morning, minus a foot,” he said in a SuperTopo thread. “I joked about going full pirate mode with a peg leg, but knew it could be a reality and was very [sad] about it. Somehow, they saved it.”
