Exhaust Management System Handle New Diesels & POD Drives

Marine Exhaust Systems' new Series 3 Zeus system and Series 4 Thinline mufflers.

Today’s sophisticated diesel engines and new pod drive technologies require high-performance exhaust systems to properly handle water and gas flows. Marine Exhaust Systems offers its new Series 3 Zeus system and Series 4 Thinline mufflers as the answer to modern exhaust management.

With its origins in Zeus pod drive applications for Viking Yachts, the Series 3 Zeus system controls water and gas flows, with customized exhaust pathways to handle customers’ special applications. It was designed to work within the space constraints of newer craft and to respond to the requirements of ever more powerful diesel engines.

More complex than a linear muffler, the Series 3 Zeus bypasses unnecessary water from the active part of the muffler. All water and exhaust gas are removed from the system separately. This helps quiet and cool newer diesel engines, including Tier 3 models. In testing, the average noise level of the Series 3 Zeus measured 86 dB at 3 meters, up to a 30 dB reduction in noise level coming from the engine, as measured on a Caterpillar C18.

For standard drives, the new Series 4 Thinline exhaust systems match the evolution of new high-output diesels such as the Caterpillar C18 and C32 ACERT, new MAN models, and other Tier 3 engines. Marine Exhaust Systems’ continuous improvement in water lift technology handles

the high water flow rates on these larger diesels with ease. This patented Marine Exhaust Systems design delivers the industry’s most compact package, with various Series 4 Thinline models for up to 3,000 hp applications. All Marine Exhaust Systems mufflers are constructed of flame-retardant vinyl ester resin, which is more durable than standard polyester resin products. Marine Exhaust Systems is a leader in premier-quality exhaust management solutions. The company has offered exhaust risers, elbows, fiberglass exhaust products, hose, clamps and accessories since 1973, and holds multiple patents on its technologies and products.
