SmartWool celebrated its 20th anniversary at this year’s Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, displaying an endless collection of performance socks as well as brand new clothing.
The company began as a Merino sock brand, and has since grown to offer base layers, hats, sports bras, mid-layers, and jackets, among other expansions.
In celebration of the milestone in the company, the Anniversary SmartWool Green color has been released and can be seen on products throughout the brand.
In jackets that will be on the market next fall, a lot of attention has been paid to creating gender-specific, tailored apparel.
“It has gender-specific insulation, because men and women sweat in different places,” said Mavis Fitzgerald from Backbone Media. “The men’s has a breathable nylon back, which goes down much further than the women’s. It’s perfect for high-aerobic activities such as backcountry skiing or ice climbing.”
With the additions of products like underwear and sports bras, SmartWool is really a head-to-heel brand, she said.
