One of the most innovative small sailboats on the market today, the compact and spirited Tartan Fantail is proof that great things come in small packages. Fitted with a Torqeedo Cruise 2.0 electric motor and Power 26-104 lithium battery, it’s also a smart, sustainable choice.
The 26′ Fantail series, offered in a daysailer, weekender or sail trainer configuration, features a contemporary style hull and classic lines. Thanks to its whisper-quiet Torqeedo propulsion, the Fantail offers plenty of pep with minimal toll on the environment.
Tim Jackett, head of Jackett Yacht Design & Development and award-winning chief designer for Tartan Yachts, chose to power the Fantail with a Torqeedo motor for several reasons. “First and foremost, it provides excellent thrust while being super quiet,” said Jackett. “Combined with the Torqeedo lithium ion battery, we were able to maximize its range while reducing weight.”
Intelligent in every way, the motor’s GPS-based computer readout shows vessel speed, course and remaining range. Constructed with the highest safety and quality standards, the Torqeedo system delivers dependable, waterproof service and powerful torque. Owners simply plug it in to AC power, or charge on the go with an optional solar or wind system.
“We’re very happy with the Torqeedo’s performance,” said Tartan marketing director Christine Corbissero. “Because it makes so little noise, our customers can enjoy a tranquil trip, whether sailing or motoring.”
Torqeedo is a leader in electric propulsion. It offers high-tech solutions that deliver performance and convenience with lower impact on resources and environment.
