Fourth TowBoatUS Port Opens on Cape Cod

TowBoatUS Chatham’s 27-foot response boat, ready to go day or night to help boaters with routine on water assistance.

Cape Cod now has its fourth TowBoatUS on water towing and assistance service with the opening of TowBoatUS Chatham just in time for the Memorial Day boating holiday and summer boating season. Located at Nauset Marine East in Orleans, the new location is the second TowBoatUS operation for Captain Noah Santos, which opened TowBoatUS Provincetown in 2010. Other TowBoatUS “ports” on Cape Cod are located in Bass River and Falmouth.

“Boaters and anglers now have a reliable resource to call 24/7 when they break down on the water,” said Santos. “The new location in Chatham allows us to meet the needs of recreational boaters and anglers and provide shorter response times. Running aground on a shoal could put you in trouble with breaking waves or damage drive gear, and we’re here to gently pull you off.” In addition to ungrounding services, TowBoatUS provides on water assistance and tows back to a launch ramps, moorings or marinas, battery jump starts and fuel drop offs. “We look forward to joining the community and being a helpful resource,” added the US Coast Guard licensed Santos.

TowBoatUS Chatham has a 27-foot Boston Whaler response vessel with twin 250 HP outboards, ready to go at a moment’s notice and fully rigged for marine towing and salvage work, including extra fuel, engine fluids, pumps, dive gear and battery “jump packs” to handle dead batteries. The towboat can be identified its distinctive red hull, white bow stripes and “TowBoatUS” lettering along its sides.

Much like an auto club for boaters, TowBoatUS offers on the water towing plans for saltwater boaters and anglers for only $149 a year a year which includes BoatUS or BoatUS Angler membership. Without a towing plan, boaters face costs that nationally average $600 per incident.

Boaters can contact TowBoatUS Chatham by hailing on VHF channel 16, calling the company directly at 508-742-7166 or calling the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Service at 800-391-4869. Assistance can also be summoned via smartphone with the free BoatUS Towing App, and BoatUS is also the only towing service that offers satellite messaging services with the SPOT and inReach satellite communications services.
