In the most recent installment of the Star Wars franchise Rey finds Luke Skywalker hiding in seclusion on a remote looking island. As it turns out that island is a real location you can actually visit. The island is known as Skellig Michael, and it’s just off the Southwest coast of Ireland. Fun fact, the island was once home to a Catholic monastery so it was actually a fitting location for the reclusive Skywalker.

The island is fairly remote, but there are boat tours which can take hikers to the island. Skellig Michael Boat Tours offers day trips to the island. Due to the increased popularity of the location tours should be booked far in advance.
