SIA and POW Host Snow-Fueled Media Event Before Jeremy Jones’ HIGHER Premier in Portland, Oregon

Last Friday, SnowSports Industries America, the snow sports industry’s member-owned trade association, along with Protect Our Winters (POW) gathered Portland, Oregon-based media and snow sports industry leaders to mix, mingle and learn about snow-related topics from both organizations before the Portland premier of Jeremy Jones’ HIGHER.

It was an unseasonably warm September evening, but the crowd at Portland’s Double Dragon restaurant was focused on SNOW and the approaching winter season. Protect Our Winters’ Founder and President, Jeremy Jones, brought the group up-to-speed on current efforts by the organization. While SIA’s Western Sales and Marketing Manager, Dave Wray, shared regional trends and participation numbers as well as the state-of-the-industry for snow sports.

“We’re honored that SIA invited us to participate in this event, to speak to the local media about the inescapable effects of climate change being felt by us all in the snow sports community, and what POW is doing to help fight it. We’re excited to continue the discussion with SIA in other markets this fall,” commented Jeremy Jones, Jones Snowboards and POW.

Following the party, media were invited to head over to the nearby Aladdin Theatre for Jeremy Jones’ HIGHER premier, capping off a great night.

“Portland has a super tight-knit snow sports community that overlaps on so many levels – it’s always great to get everyone together and support people like Jeremy who does so much for the industry and the environment,” commented Dave Wray, SIA.

SIA and POW will gather media and industry leaders to mix, mingle and talk SNOW again at San Francisco’s Snowbomb Festival on November 1 and during the Boston.com Ski & Snowboard Expo on November 14.
