The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) recently presented a service award to one of its Technical Board members. Robert Unger was honored for his conspicuous service through active participation on committees and boards that materially benefits the goals of ABYC.
“I have known Bob since I began here at ABYC in 2002. He is always willing to use his resources to further the mission of ABYC. We have always relied on him to provide much needed honest and timely feedback on any projects, future initiatives or, most importantly, hidden opportunities. This award is well deserved, ABYC is what we are because of members like Bob,” said John Adey, ABYC president.
Unger served on both the Electrical Project Technical Committee from 2005 to 2014 and the Technical Board from 2008 to the present. With the sale of Professional Mariner and Unger’s upcoming retirement, ABYC chose the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) as the perfect time and place to present this distinguished award.
Since 1954, the non-profit American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) has developed safety standards for boat design, construction, equipage, repair and maintenance. The essential global source of marine industry technical information, ABYC’s product safety standards, credentialing, education, training, and other tools help members make boating safer.
