Today Kadey-Krogen Yachts introduces Tucker West as the company’s new vice president of sales. West is well-equipped with more than 20 years in the marine industry to take on the responsibility of leading the Kadey-Krogen sales force. For the last nine years, West led the North American Sales and Dealers Network for Grand Banks Yachts. In addition to sales, his work at Kadey-Krogen will contribute to product development and sales marketing.
“I am extremely pleased to join the Kadey-Krogen crew,” said West. “To be a part of a team that takes a ‘customer-first’ position from the get-go is music to my ears. I am confident that my knowledge of the customer base will help propel Kadey-Krogen Yachts forward. Currently, we have several new products on the drawing the board, and it is an exciting time to join the company.”
West has assumed an equity position in the company by purchasing John Gear’s interest in Kadey-Krogen Yachts, thereby creating a new team of principals. In addition to West overseeing sales, Larry Polster will supervise marketing, public relations, finance and administration and Tom Button will direct yacht construction, new product development, commissioning and post-delivery customer care. John Gear will continue with Kadey-Krogen Yachts as the company’s Florida yacht broker of record.
“It has been my privilege to have been an owner of the company for the last eight years, something I could never have imagined when I came on board as a broker in 2002,” said Gear. “I am both proud and humbled by my tenure and my association with the entire Kadey-Krogen team, and especially the relationship Larry, Tom and I have enjoyed. Next month will mark 38 years since I brokered my first boat, and now, to be able to continue my relationship with Kadey-Krogen Yachts in that same broker capacity is like having your cake and eating it, too! I look forward to watching the growth I am sure will result from this new team, and will take great satisfaction knowing that I helped contribute in some small way to the success of Kadey-Krogen Yachts.”
West entered the marine industry after graduating from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire with a degree in business management. His primary focus throughout the years has been in sales, marketing, and after-sales service. Tucker began his career at Sunsail Yacht Charters, booking sailing vacations and selling boats into Sunsail’s charter fleet. After spending a year in Thailand with Sunsail, he returned to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and spent the next seven years with The Catamaran Company. Most recently, his work with Grand Banks Yachts earned respect among his peers and cemented his passion for the cruising segment of the power boat industry.
“As we work on our strategic plan that will sustain and take us well into the company’s fifth decade in business, Tom and I find ourselves in a bittersweet moment concluding a truly tremendous partnership with John for the past eight years,” said Polster. Opening a new chapter, we look forward to Tucker’s involvement and perspective. His appetite and desire for both boating and a happy customer fit perfectly with our philosophy of being a boat-building company, versus a company that builds boats. He is certain to usher in a new group of Kadey-Krogen owners eager to be, “At Home On Any Sea!”
